"Ian Bright has led mushroom forays for our students and staff several times over the past 4 years, and each experience has been outstanding.
He is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient, with a natural ability to engage both children and adults.
Ian leads mushroom walks as adventures of discovery, making participants feel like they are on a shared treasure hunt rather than in a lecture.
His approach fosters curiosity, connection, and a genuine love of the natural world.

"The mushroom walk led by Ian was full of wonder and surprise! Who knew so many species of mushrooms were right under our feet! At first glance, the forest floor looked decked in fallen leaves and fading greenery. Ian's sharp eye led us up a trail bedecked with hidden mushroom jewels. He would brush off the top of a mound of leaves rising up, revealing a cluster of shrooms beneath, and identify them, including us in the lesson on their name, uses, and possible toxicity. He had also brought several species as a show-and-tell before the hike and discussed his favorite recommended books.

In a relatively easy hiking area, he was able to identify more species than I thought possible at first glance, even finding a lion's mane high up in a tree!

His preparedness and knowledge of species and where to find them were evident and impressive. I fully recommend mushroom walks with Ian!

Before You Go

My son made a fun, educational game with me running around an 8-bit forest collecting mushrooms and calling out their names.

It’s short, quirky, and made with a lot of love!
